Create strategic and transformational

programmes aligned to the strategic plan

At this stage, all the prerequisites have been completed to establish transfor-

mational programmes aligned to the strategy. Creation of the programmes

and project underneath is a lengthy process. The following are the steps to

establish a programme and start the execution:

• Create programmes to deliver strategic objectives. All programmes

must be aligned to the strategy and contribute towards IOSpeed vision.

• Create a business case for individual programmes and start the

approval process.

• Get business case approval.

• Once the business case has been fully approved, start establishing the

programme and make it ready for execution.

• Create projects to deliver the business outcomes, contributing to the

programme.

• Set up milestones and KPIs (key performance indicators) for each pro-

gramme and project.

• Launch the programme officially. Milestones must have quantitative

and qualitative measurements along with outcome delivery timelines.

Realignment of human resources to strategic programmes

Human capital is an important part of a successful programme delivery.

As IOSpeed goes through the execution of the programmes, it is essential to

align the right resources, where it is needed as per the programme require-

ments and employee skills. This is to make sure that they are all aligned

and fit for purpose. The following steps are recommended to align the right

skilled employees to appropriate initiatives:

• As mentioned in Chapter 6, IOSpeed needs to create a database of

existing employee job roles, locations, departments, existing skills

and the career goals.

• Create a consolidated list of all projects and initiatives underpinning

the programme strategic deliverables.

• Carry out an exercise with managers of the departments to match and

align the skills of the employees to the initiatives.

• Formalise the alignment and move of the employee inter-department.

Get approval from managers and HR.

• Communicate it to the employees and get their buy-in for the new

alignment and job role.

• Once all realignment has been completed, an assessment can be done

for requirements to hire external skilled employees.
